What does perfume concentration mean?

Every fragrance is fragrance oil dissolved in alcohol. The higher the percentage of oil, the richer and longer-lasting the scent. The internationally recognised tiers, from lightest to strongest, are Eau de Cologne, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum and Parfum/Extrait.

Eau de Toilette (EDT) — roughly 5–15% oil

Light and fresh, EDT is easy to over-apply and typically fades in 2–4 hours. Great for a quick burst, less ideal for all-day wear in Indian heat.

Eau de Parfum (EDP) — roughly 15–20% oil

Extrait de Parfum (Parfum) — roughly 20–30% oil

Which concentration should you choose?

For most people in Indian weather, a good Eau de Parfum is the sweet spot: strong, long-lasting wear without the higher price of a pure extrait. A couple of sprays of a well-made EDP easily outlast half a bottle of EDT, giving you stronger projection, a longer scent journey from top to base notes, and better value per wear.
