Best Perfumes for Shimla and Himachal Hill Weather

What altitude and cool air do to a fragrance
Three things change above about 2,000 metres.
Cool air slows the whole composition down. Evaporation is what carries a fragrance off your skin and into the air, and cold suppresses it. A scent opens more gradually, stays closer to you and projects less. That is not a loss of performance — it is a different shape of performance, and it favours richer, warmer compositions that would be unbearable in the plains.
Light citrus can read as thin. A bright, fresh opening needs a little warmth to lift. On a cold Shimla morning it can vanish before it has properly arrived, which is the opposite of the problem people have in Mumbai.

Aaranya is Calabrian bergamot over Sichuan pepper, lavender and star anise, resting on Papua New Guinea vanilla and ambroxan. Practical notes for the hills
- Moisturise before every application. This matters more in Himachal than anywhere else in India. Cold, dry air plus indoor heating will strip skin, and fragrance needs oil to hold on to.
